Sen. Abubakar Bello (APC-Niger), yesterday, empowered 177 beneficiaries of his skills acquisition programme in Niger with starter packs.
The News Agency of Nigeria ,NAN, reports that Bello distributed the items to the beneficiaries, who were youths and women, in all the eight local government areas making up his senatorial district.
NAN also reports that the distribution of the starter packs was held in Kontagora Local Government Area of the state.
Bello said that the gesture was aimed at empowering the beneficiaries to be self-reliant and contribute their own quota to the development of the state.
The lawmaker, who is the immediate past governor of the state, reiterated his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents by promoting productivity.
“This is part of a broader strategy to foster financial independence and sustainable development across Zone C”, he said.
He also re-affirmed his determination to deliver dividends of democracy through impactful projects tailored toward addressing critical challenges in the senatorial district.
“These projects are a testament to my resolve to uplift the living standards of the people in Zone C.
“They are not isolated efforts but part of a sustainable development framework that aligns with the Federal Government’s policies to bridge infrastructural gaps and drive economic growth”, he said.
Responding, one of the beneficiaries, Mr Mohammed Yusuf, expressed appreciation to the senator for the gesture and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
He pledged to ensure proper utilisation of the starter packs to improve their standards of living and those of their family members.
NAN reports that the projects included: essential infrastructure upgrades, while the beneficiaries acquired skills in tailoring, hair dressing, carpentry, painting, catering and poultry farming.
Some of the community leaders and representatives of the eight council areas under zone C expressed gratitude to the senator for his efforts.
They described the initiatives as transformative and timely.
