Yet-to-be identified burglar has been electrocuted while trying to steal transformer cable at No. 3 Onogoro Street in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
AljazirahNigeria reports that the already oozing lifeless body was lying inside the transformer’s premises.
Speaking to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, a resident of the area who could not explain the cause of the man’s death for fear of arrest, however, noted that the oozing corpse had been scaring residents away since Friday morning when it was discovered.
She added that the incident had attracted officials of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, and different police teams, but wondered why they abandoned the corpse.
She appealed to the state government and security agencies to evacuate the corpse which she said had become a threat to the health of residents.
When contacted, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu confirmed the incident and said efforts are ongoing to evacuate the corpse.
