Dangote Refinery and Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, yesterday reached agreement to lift petrol otherwise known as Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, diesel or Automotive Gas Oil, AGO, and Dual Purpose Kerosine, DPK, directly for distribution of the products directly.

IPMAN National President, Abubakar Garima, announced the break through after a meeting of the National Working Committee of the IPMAN in Abuja.

According to Garima, “We’re pleased to announce that Dangote Refinery has agreed to supply IPMAN with PMS, AGO, and DPK directly for distribution to our depots and retail outlets”.

He said expressed optimism that the Chairman of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote would ultimately lead to lower rates in terms of products pricing.

He then urged IPMAN members to support Dangote Refinery, citing backward integration benefits and positive impacts on Foreign Exchange market.

The IPMAN President added that the partnership with Dangote Refinery is expected to increase efficiency, affordability, and economic growth for Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

Besides, speaking on Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, Garima said IPMAN is preparing for a seamless transition to CNG refill stations nationwide as it is currently negotiating with the presidential CNG initiative

Dangote Refinery, pledged to commence supply of products to over 30,000 IPMAN members and 150,000 retail outlets nationwide.

This move is expected to eliminate middlemen, reduce costs, and ensure steady supply.

It would be recalled that the Dangote 650,000 barrels per day  refinery in Lagos was said to have earlier ignored oil marketers’ call on direct lifting of its petrol.

The Dangote and IPMAN deal to lift products came in the wake of the recent report that Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL has quit its role as sole off-taker of Dangote petrol.
