APC Sweeps LG Polls In Kaduna, Kogi

It was jubilation galore by members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kaduna State on Saturday evening, when the Kaduna State Electoral Independent Commission, KASEICOM, announced the results of the Local Government chairmanship and councillorship elections conducted across the State.

KASEICOM chairman, Hajara Mohammed , announced that the APC won all the 23 Local Government Chairmanship seats and all the 255 Councillorship positions in the State.

Eight political parties filled in political candidates in the elections. They are ADC, APC, APGA, LP, NNPP, PDP, PRP, and YPP”, Hajara said.

She explained that “The electoral officers have filed their reports, and at the end of exercise, 23 won chairmanship positions and 255 won councillorship positions.

“The 23 local government returning officers and 255 wards returning officers have declared the results in their respective constituency and submitted their results in accordance with the law along side with the presiding officers.

“By the power vested on the Commission, I hereby wish to confirm the result earlier collected and returned by the returning officers. I am confirming these results as follows; APC won the 23 local government Chairmanship positions and the 255 wards councillorship positions across the State”.

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani said the elections were  peaceful, free and fair.

In an interview with journalists after casting his vote at LEA Kawo polling unit O47 on Saturday, Uba Sani expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the local government elections across the state.

“The elections have been generally free, fair, and peaceful, with only minor issues reported in three polling units and wards.The turnout across the 23 local government areas was satisfactory. APC had campaigned extensively throughout the state.In every election, there are winners and losers”, the Governor said.

Similarly, the All Progressives Congress , has swept the 21 Local Government Chairmanship seats and 239 Councillorship slots in Kogi State in the election held on Saturday

Chairman, Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, KOSIEC, Mr Mamman Nda-Eri,  who announced the results in Lokoja, said the election was peaceful, free, fair and credible.

Among the elected local government chairmen was a woman that clinched the seat in Ogori-Magongo Local Government.

“APC performed excellently; it cleared all the chairmanship and councillorship positions, leaving nothing to the other 18 political parties that took part in the election.

“The results declared at the headquarters were earlier declared at the various collations centres by the respective Returning Officers.

“As Chairman of KOSIEC, I hereby confirm the results earlier collated and returned by the Returning Officers”, he said.

He thanked the electoral officials, security operatives, observers and newsmen for their support that made the election a success.
