Delta Police Kill Suspected Robber, Confiscate Arms

Undercover operatives from Ekpan Divisional Patrol team have eliminated a suspected armed robber, seizing a cut-to-size double-barrelled gun along with two live cartridges from the assailant. The encounter took place on Tuesday around 21:40 hours along the Army Barracks Link Road, off Refinery Road, Ekpan in Delta State

According to police sources, the patrol team encountered a tricycle carrying three individuals, suspected to be involved in criminal activities. Upon realizing they were law enforcement, the suspects attempted to flee but were pursued by the police. During the chase, one suspect was apprehended with a black bag containing the seized firearm.

Upon questioning, the detained suspect revealed that his accomplices, who managed to escape, were part of their criminal gang. They were known for their modus operandi of robbing and sometimes kidnapping unsuspecting victims.

Based on the information provided by the apprehended suspect, the police conducted a search of their hideouts along the NNPC Link Road, resulting in a confrontation where the suspect attempted to flee by jumping off a bridge. However, he sustained fatal injuries during the altercation and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Ekpan General Hospital.”

Meanwhile, the police Spokesman in the state, SP Bright Edafe has confirmed the arrest of three members of Aiye Confraternity in Asaba while acting on intelligence gathering by Anti Crime Patrol team. SP Bright Edafe said that the suspects: Benson Theophilus 34, Lucky Sadah 31, and Jonathan Kelly 36 upon interrogation confessed to be members of the Aiye Confraternity who have initiated over thirty teenagers in Asaba and its environs in the last few weeks SP Bright Edafe added that the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation disclosing that the police Anti Crime Patrol team recovered cut to size guns from the suspects including dangerous weapons. SP Bright Edafe called on Deltans to always provide genuine information to the police as it will no longer be business as usual.
