Benue State Governor, Reverend Father, Hyacinth Alia, has established a forensic audit panel to investigate the financial affairs of Lobi Stars Football Club.
Alia disclosed this Tuesday when he received Daniel Amokachi, the new Technical Adviser of the club at Government House Makurdi.
The governor in a statement by Head of Media of the club Emmanuel Uja, in Makurdi, said he took the decision based on persistent complaints of non-payment of salaries to players and officials, despite government financial obligations to the club.
He praised Amokachi’s international football career and urged him to improve the club’s performance.
The governor named members of the Audit Forensic team to include, including Sam Chir, Bishop Dzungwe, and Akpusugh Terungwa all Assistant Directors of Audit in the Benue State Department of Audit, and Abraham Gberindyer the Auditor General were charged with the responsibility of investigating the club’s financial affairs
Responding Amokachi, a former Super Eagles player, expressed gratitude to the governor and the people of Benue State for the warm reception.
He emphasized the importance of paying players’ salaries, citing it as a significant motivation for the team to excel in the football league, and promised to do his best to improve the club’s performance.
In a remark Philip Nongu, Chairman of Lobi Stars FC, said he was in Government House Makurdi to present to the Governor, the new Technic adviser of the club.
