Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, has sustained security arrangements to ensure a safe and incident-free 64th Independence Day celebration today.
A statement signed by Police Public Relations Office, PPRO, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, said to guarantee public safety, adequate personnel have been strategically deployed across the state.
The command urges community leaders, civil society organisations and youth associations to partner security agencies in maintaining peace and order.
According to the statement, in the light of past experiences in the state, where protests led to loss of life and destruction of public infrastructure, the command is vigilant and prepared to prevent similar incidents.
However, social media influencers, bloggers and publishers are warned against spreading inflammatory content or inciting public disturbance.
The commissioner of police warned individuals or groups intending to disrupt the peace that they will face swift and decisive action.
The public is urged to shun unlawful assembly and destructive behaviour, report suspicious activities to security agencies, cooperate with personnel deployed to ensure public safety
The command also remains committed to safeguarding lives, properties and maintaining law and order.
