From Henry Ibya, Makurdi
Benue State Government has expressed worry over repeated attacks and unouth remarks, especially the most recent by member representing Ado,Ogbadibo,Okpokwu Federal Constituency, Philip Agbese.
Speaking at a press conference in Makurdi, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, in reaction to Agbese’s outburst describing Alia’s government as a den of demons, advised the lawmaker to face his legislative duties to deliver on his campaign promises to his people instead of pursuing shadows.
He recalled that when the same lawmaker made mockery of himself by taking down the portrait of governor Alia in his office as well as ran commentaries not befitting of his status as representative of the people, Government viewed the act as abnormal but kept calm in order to see his further actions.
“We ignored his behaviour thinking that as a youth, he must have been influenced by alcohol or abused other substances and will certainly come back to his senses to apologise”, Kula said.
He described as unacceptable deliberate move by Agbese to spoil the name of a man who is delivering on his mandate by especially taking the welfare of Benue people through payment of salaries and pensions top priority, provision of infrastructure as well as other people oriented projects and urged the lawmaker to face his legislative business instead of chasing shadows.
The CPS said Governor Alia would never be deterred or distracted by such antics but would always remain more than focused to deliver the goods to the people of Benue State
