Four suspected bandits were arrested on Saturday in Kwara State for allegedly terrorising residents of Edu, Patigi and Ifelodun Local Government Areas.
The suspects were arrested by local vigilantes in Shagbe community, following the abduction of two wives of a prominent businessman on Friday night at Edogi Dukun community in Edu Local Government Area.
The bandits attacked the residence of the businessman identified as Alhaji Danjuma at about 1:30am and whisked away his two wives, according to reports made available to AljazirahNigeria.
Neighbours said the suspected kidnappers, armed with sophisticated weapons, scaled the fence of the businessman’s residence.
The incident happened despite efforts by security forces and vigilantes to flush criminals out of the affected communities in Edu, Patigi and Ifelodun Local Government Areas.
The raid plunged the community into fear.
However, in a turn of events, four of the suspected bandits terrorising Ganmu, Shagbe, Babanla and Bankole communities, all in Ifelodun, were arrested by local vigilantes on Saturday.
AljazirahNigeria recalls that scores of vigilantes lost their lives in an encounter with suspected criminals in the effort to flush bandits out of the affected areas.
