Tolu Bankole Calls For Unity As Nigeria Faces Fresh Wave Of Insecurity

By Caleb Ishaya

Durotolu Bankole, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee, has expressed deep concern over the escalating wave of insecurity across several parts of the country.

In a press statement released on Friday, Bankole said his heart is “heavy” as Nigeria continues to grapple with banditry, kidnappings, and terror-related attacks that have left many families devastated.

Bankole extended condolences to families who have lost loved ones and sympathies to victims recovering from trauma. He also urged prayers and support for families still awaiting the safe return of abducted relatives.

He paid special tribute to Nigeria’s security forces including soldiers, police officers, and intelligence operatives describing them as heroes who risk their lives daily to safeguard the nation. Their bravery, he said, is a reminder that “the fight for peace is a shared national responsibility.”

The APC chieftain cautioned Nigerians against allowing fear, division, or misinformation to deepen national tensions. He emphasized that the nation’s challenges are not rooted in ethnic, religious, or political conflict, but rather driven by criminal groups intent on destabilizing the country.

“Before anything else, we are Nigerians united by a shared destiny,” he stated. “We stand stronger together than apart.”

Bankole expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, affirming that the government is taking comprehensive steps to curb insecurity. According to him, ongoing efforts include enhanced intelligence operations, stronger regional security collaborations, and increased investment in national security infrastructure.

He assured citizens that Nigeria would ultimately prevail over its current challenges. “Nigeria will overcome. Peace will return. And together, we will build a safer and stronger nation for generations to come,” Bankole declared.

The statement comes amid growing public anxiety following a string of recent violent incidents in multiple states.
