Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) by President Bola Tinubu.
The appointment is expected to bring stability and progress to Nigeria’s aviation sector, leveraging Ganduja’s extensive experience in leadership and governance.
The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo made the announcement at the inauguration ceremony of FAAN BOARD members on Wednesday
Keyamo charge the newly Inaugurated Board Members to be proactive, transparent and dedicated to their mandate.
“As you begin your tenure, I want to emphasize the critical mandate entrusted to you. You are the architects of our ideal future, and your role demands a proactive approach to governance, transparency, and dedication to the principles of the Federal Airports Authority Act”.
He are that they should ensure our airports prioritize safety and security, adhering to international best practices, promote sustainable practices that balance economic growth with environmental protection for future generations, put passengers at the center of our operations, focusing on service delivery, customer satisfaction, and overall airport experience and build partnerships with government agencies, international organizations, and the private sector to grow the aviation economy.
“As you embark on this new chapter, remember that the nation is watching. Your success will be measured not only by financial growth but also by the impact on ordinary individuals. Your work will make our airports symbols of national pride and progress”.
The Minister urged them that their efforts should align with the Renewable Hope Agenda, aimed at developing world-class infrastructure in our aviation ecosystem.
In his response, the former Governor of Kano State and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje emphasized the importance of understanding the act of fasting to stay within boundaries and strive for excellence, ensuring that FAAN’s services meet international standards.
He assured the Aviation Minister that FAAN would prioritize effective institutional governance, compliance with regulatory limits, and adherence to international standards.
Ganduje highlighted the importance of ensuring passenger satisfaction, increasing accommodation, and maintaining functional infrastructure facilities to create a positive impression of Nigeria.
He stressed the need for a positive attitude among stakeholders, recognizing that excellent services and infrastructure can be undermined by poor attitude.
He expressed gratitude to the President for the appointment and to the Honorable Minister of aviation for creating an enabling environment, assuring the Minister that FAAN would work diligently to achieve its goals.
The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Ms. Olubunmi Kuku, welcomed the newly inaugurated Board Members and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to drive the strategic agenda of the President.
Kuku charged the Board Members to focus on institutional governance, ensuring that FAAN operates efficiently and effectively.
She emphasized the need for close collaboration with the Board, the Ministry, and other stakeholders to achieve FAAN’s goals, highlighting the importance of providing an improved passenger experience, ensuring that Nigerians and international passengers are proud of the work done by FAAN.
Kuku welcomed the new Board Members, recognizing their active roles and the value they will bring to FAAN from their various ministries and agencies.
