The Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education Nigeria(SSUCOEN), Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union(COEASU) and Non-Academic Staff Union(NASU) Mosogar Chapter have suspended the strike action in the College.

In a statement signed and made available to the media by the secretary of SSUCOEN, Comr. Okoro Wilson, said that the suspension of the strike action became necessary after a fruitful meeting held on Friday 7th June,2024 with the Chairman of the Governing Council, Rt. Hon. Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese, the Provost, Dr. Israel Imide and other Management Staff.

The unions expressed confidence in the promised of the Governing Council Chairman, while calling off the strike action for (5) working days commencing from Monday 10th June,2024 as a mark of respect for the new Chairman and allowed the implementation of the Unions demand.

The statement reads;”In a meeting held by Unions with the Gov. Council Chairman, the Provost, and Management Staff,on Friday 7th June, 2024 to discuss the issue of the strike embarked upon by the Unions on the illegal advertisement for the office of the College Registrar, the Council Chairman have assured the Unions to trust him and suspend the strike, while necessary steps are already in place to ensure due process are followed.

Based on his promise to do the needful, the Unions thought it appropriate to suspend the strike action for five (5) working days commencing from Monday, 10th June, 2024 as a mark of respect for the new Chairman and to allow for the implementation of the Unions demand”

To this end,all students should resume back to school on Monday.

We appreciate the Governing Council Chairman, Olorogun Barr. Sunny Akpodiogaga Emeyese and the College Provost,Dr. Israel Imide for their swift action to address and allowed the school system not to be shutdown from academic activities.

All stakeholders of Delta State College of Education Mosogar should look critically into area of building more infrastructures and think towards the general development of the institution since we are behind among sister institutions established in thesame time with the College in the State.
