Nollywood actress Rosy Meurer has firmly rejected longstanding social media claims that she was once close friends, or even best friends, with Tonto Dikeh before marrying businessman Olakunle Churchill, insisting she never met Tonto before her relationship with him.
In a new Instagram video posted on Wednesday, Meurer addressed the persistent narrative that she “snatched” Churchill from Tonto, describing the story as completely fabricated and fueled by bloggers who thrive on falsehoods.
She criticised followers who readily accept unverified online rumours without evidence, stressing that she felt compelled to speak out once and for all to set the record straight.
“These bloggers feed off lies. I can’t really blame them but I blame all these gullible followers that just choose to believe lies and everything they see online. But today, I just want to tell you guys one thing, just this one time, so it can be on record.
“I was never my husband’s ex’s friend not to talk of best friend. I have never met her. I have never seen her, she doesn’t have my number, I don’t have her number, and she’s like 8 to 9, 10 years older than I am. And I have read comments that I was her best friend or she introduced me to her husband and I snatched him, but it’s not true. If anyone has the proof otherwise, I dare you to bring it out.
“I was never friends with anyone. I don’t even know her. I met my husband separately from that other life that he has,” she said.
The controversy dates back to 2017 when Olakunle Churchill faced accusations of infidelity during his marriage to Tonto Dikeh, with Rosy Meurer’s name dragged into the scandal amid rumours that she was a close family friend.
At the time, Meurer publicly denied any romantic involvement with Churchill, describing the couple as family-like figures to her and dismissing the gossip as baseless.
In an older video from that period, she stated: “I remain under big church foundation and he (Olakunle) remains family to me. His wife (Tonto Dikeh) remains family to me. We’ve hung out together before and I don’t see a big deal there. People should stop saying things that they do not know.”
Churchill and Tonto Dikeh married in August 2015 and welcomed their son, King Andre, in February 2016. Their union ended in a highly public and acrimonious divorce in July 2017, amid allegations of domestic violence and cheating.
Three years later, in 2021, Rosy Meurer and Olakunle Churchill tied the knot, reigniting old rumours and prompting renewed online scrutiny of her past statements.
Meurer, who has largely stayed silent on the matter since her marriage, used Wednesday’s video to challenge anyone with concrete evidence contradicting her account to present it publicly, while maintaining that she entered her relationship with Churchill independently of his previous marriage.
