Ronaldo’s Coach Pioli Departs Al-Nassr After Another Trophyless Season

Stefano Pioli has officially parted ways with Al-Nassr FC, following a disappointing 2024/25 campaign that saw the Saudi club once again end the season without silverware.

The former AC Milan boss joined Al-Nassr in September 2024, replacing Luis Castro after a similarly underwhelming season. Despite high expectations and the presence of global superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, Pioli was unable to turn the team’s fortunes around.

Al-Nassr finished third in the Saudi Pro League and failed to make a mark in both the King’s Cup and the AFC Champions League.

With his departure confirmed, Pioli is now widely expected to return to Serie A, with reports suggesting a move to Fiorentina is already in the works.

Al-Nassr announced the managerial change in an official statement:

“Al Nassr Club Company informs that Mr. Pioli and his staff are no longer the acting coaching staff of the first team. We would like to thank Mr. Pioli and his staff for their dedicated work during the past season.”

Pioli’s exit means Cristiano Ronaldo will be preparing to work with his fifth manager in just two and a half years at the club, as the 2025/26 season approaches.

Meanwhile, Al-Nassr is now in search of a new head coach. Among the names linked to the role is Sérgio Conceição, a former teammate of Ronaldo and current FC Porto manager, who could be heading to Al-Awwal Park in the coming weeks.
