From HASSAN JIRGI, Damaturu

Mairiga Charity Foundation has distributed palliatives to the destitute and vulnerable Muslims in Yobe State.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Hajiya Fateema Umar, said the gesture was to reduce the impact of the economic downturn on  vulnerable groups during the one month of compulsory fasting.

According to her, Mairiga Charity Foundation, in partnership with the North East Development Commission, NEDC, has launched the distribution of essential food items to 100 less privileged individuals across Yobe State.

Over a hundred people and other vulnerable individuals around Mairiga House received palliatives to aid them during the fasting period.

During the aid distribution, the foundation encouraged the beneficiaries to pray for Yobe and Nigeria, emphasizing the significance of compassion in times of rising living cost.

She noted: “I understand  poverty first-hand. That is why we are here today to lighten some of their burden. As they receive this assistance, I urge them to pray for peace and guidance for our leaders.”

The founder extended her  appreciation to Governor Mai Mala Buni for the continued support to the organisation.

The items  distributed include rice, pasta cooking oil, sugar and other essential Ramadan staples to ensure that the beneficiaries have access to nutritious meals for Sahur and Iftar.

“May Allah bless everyone involved in this initiative, and may the beneficiaries find relief and blessings throughout this holy month. Ramadan Mubarak.”

The beneficiaries, comprising individuals with disabilities, widows and underprivileged women, conveyed heartfelt appreciation for the generosity and compassion, extending wishes for her continued success beyond her endeavors.

Another beneficiary expressed profound gratitude, describing the assistance as a significant boost to their day.

She said: “I woke up with nothing to eat, but through divine intervention, this woman came to our aid. We pray that God rewards her abundantly.”
