Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it secured 33 convictions out of 563 persons who were prosecuted for various crimes during the year.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare made the disclosure at a press conference in Uyo, Monday.
Azare said that the command rescued 74 persons from human traffickers and reunited them with their families.
According to him, the command also rescued 10 kidnap victims and recovered 179 assorted arms, 323 ammunition of different types and 100 pieces of live cartridges.
The police officer stated that the security situation in the state had remained generally peaceful, calm and stable during the year.
“We achieved all these through intelligence-led policing, proactive patrols, strategic deployments, community cooperation, and effective inter-agency collaboration,” he said.
He assured residents that the command is committed to the protection of lives and property during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“Measures have been put in place for intensified patrols, stop-and-search operations, and strategic deployments across the state,” he said.
Azare expressed the command’s resolve to strengthen intelligence-led policing and crime prevention strategies in 2026.
“We shall sustain clampdown on violent crimes, cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, we shall deepen community policing and public trust.
“The command will be more proactive in combating cybercrime and the spread of fake news through collaboration with sister security agencies in the state,” he said.
Azare commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, for his purposeful leadership, policy direction, and unwavering support to the command.
He also thanked the state government for its continued support, and commended personnel of the command for their sacrifice and dedication to duty.
The police commissioner urged members of the public to remain law abiding, vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station for action.
