Anambra State Police Command has launched a manhunt for those who abducted and murdered the Managing Director, Fish Magnet Outlet, Mr Ifesinachi Onyekere.

Onyekwere, a businessman man, was abducted from his residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno, Awka in the evening of July 27.

A statement by the police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, yesterday in Awka, quoted  the Commissioner of Police, CP, Ikioye Orutugu, as giving the directive to tactical and intelligence units of the command.

Orutugu condemned the killing and assured residents that the criminal elements behind the cowardly act would be brought to book.

He said the police owe it a duty to the family, the people of Anambra, and the memory of the deceased to ensure that those responsible face the full weight of the law.

Ikenga, in the statement, noted that the CP’s directive followed the recovery of the victim’s Toyota Corolla car on Ukwulu-Igbariam road by the Joint Security Team, comprising vigilante operatives and the police.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the assailants had trailed the victim before launching the violent attack, during which he was shot in the leg and forcibly taken away.

“He was later found lifeless, sparking public outrage and deep concern among residents of Awka,” the command’s spokesman said. (NAN)
