Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has paid a condolence visit to businessman and social commentator, Isaac Fayose, following the passing of his wife, in a move widely viewed as another display of compassion that transcends political affiliations.
The visit came shortly after Obi had visited former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to sympathise with him over the death of his mother, reinforcing his continued outreach to grieving families irrespective of political differences.
During the visit, Obi was received by Isaac Fayose, where he conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the late Mrs Fayose.
According to those present, the former Anambra State governor expressed sympathy over the loss and encouraged the family to remain strong during the difficult period, while praying for divine comfort.
Obi’s condolence visit follows Isaac Fayose’s recent meeting with Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, which sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms.
The meeting generated political speculation after some commentators interpreted it as a sign that Fayose might be aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), with others suggesting it could signal a possible defection to the party.
However, Obi’s decision to personally visit Fayose despite the political conversations surrounding the businessman has attracted fresh public attention.
Many observers have described the visit as another example of placing humanity above politics, noting that Obi has consistently demonstrated empathy by reaching out to individuals during moments of personal grief regardless of their political affiliations.
The condolence visit has continued to generate reactions online, with supporters and political observers describing it as a reminder that compassion and solidarity should remain above partisan interests, especially in times of bereavement.
