The National Assembly Complex was yesterday lock down by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, over the ongoing indefinate industrial action by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC.
Our reporter who visited the National Assembly main Gate in the morning hours noticed that the two gates, which are major reute into the legislative building were under key and lock in compliance with the NLC directives.
PASAN members were publicly seen blocking the two entrances to the National Assembly Complex were completely stranded as nobody was allowed access to the Complex for official assignment.
Other workers who were equally stranded during the strike yesterday were food vendors, restaurant operators amongst and bankers among others.
The National Assembly Staff Union also blocked the main entrance to the Complex, including those leading to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,OSGF, as well as the Villa gates.
PASAN members were also seen riding on coastal buses to prevent access into the nation’s apex legislature building even as they insisted that nobody is exempted.
The industrial action has caused the House of Representatives Committee on Finance to postponed the recheduled sitting to monitor the revenue by Ministries, Departments and Agencies,MDAs,of the Federal Government.
Aljazirah reporter made frantic efforts to interview some workers that were lock out at the National Assembly gate because of the strike action but nobody complied.
