..Fighters, captives in life threatening medical conditions, says escaped kidnap victim

FROM SAMSON ALFA, MINNA

Bandits’ camps in Niger and Zamfara states are currently ravaged by diseases as security forces intensify military operations against bandits, forcing them to leave their camps and seek medical attention elsewhere, AljazirahNigeria has gathered.

The wave of ravaging diseases in the camps is not unconnected with recent military operations blocking medical and other supplies to bandits’ camps.

The military onslaught, according to sources is taking a toll on these terrorists operations.

Sources, who spoke with our correspondent, said the outbreak of diseases coupled with shortage of foods and medications is crippling the capacity of bandits thereby spreading quickly life threatening diseases.

The development is said to have created internal pressure and weakened their operational capacity.

One of their victims, who recently escaped from a  camp in Niger State disclosed that he “suffered  health challenges while in their hideout”.

He further explained that “both captives and some members of the armed groups were battling various health challenges”.

The source added that the lack of medication and access to healthcare services in the forest worsened the situation, leaving many in critical condition including hostages.

Another source who was moved across camps in Niger and Zamfara states also confirmed “serious health challenges in bandits’ camps”, he was released recently but did not confirm whether ransom was paid for his release.

AljazirahNigeria recalls that the Minister of Defence,Gen Christopher Musa, upon resumption pledged to block logistics supplies of these bandits terrorizing the country.
