Chairperson Niger State Squash Association (NSSA), Mrs. Taiwo Akinkoye has admonished both old and new Squash players to be more committed to excel even as she pleaded with former state players to support the association to sponsor the monthly league.
She made the declaration shortly after the presentation of different cash prizes to different categories of winners in the 1st 2026, monthly Squash league which took place at the Minna Sports club, David Mark road, Tunga, Minna over the weekend.
Mrs Akinkoye,who is one time number One national seed player played for Niger state told the 34 players that registered for the different categories that the league is for greater exploits at local and international levels hence the need to approach the league with all seriousness.
She also commended the sponsors of 2026 league, Segun & Regina “SEGREG”, a couple who were once players in Niger state for investing in the championship, and called on other former players to support the monthly sporting event in order to build a future for the upcoming Squash champions.
The Chairperson told the players, that this monthly Squash league is for them if really they want to become somebody in Squash or to make a name in Squash world.shiuld approach it with all seriousness”.
She asked both old and new players to be courageous and committed to evolving new tactics and stamina building without which it will not be easy for them to compete favourably with their counterpart across Nigeria and other countries.
