Kano State Independent Electoral Commission ,KANSIEC, has declared candidates of New Nigerian People’s Party ,NNPP, as winners of the Saturday’s elections in all the 44 Local Government Areas and 484 wards.
Prof. Sani Malumfashi, KANSIEC Chairman, disclosed this on Saturday in Kano while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the elections.
Malumfashi said: “Based on the results announced by the Electoral and Returning Officers at different collation centers, at the end of the exercise, 44 candidates of NNPP won the chairmanship, while 484 candidates of the same party won the councillorship positions.
“The 44 Returning Officers and Ward Returning Officers have declared and submitted their respective results in accordance with the law alongside the Electoral Officers.
“This implies that NNPP won all the 44 chairmanship positions and the 484 councillorship positions across the state”.
He said the exercise had been largely peaceful and successful in all ramifications.
“The Commission, therefore, deeply appreciates the roles played by the critical stakeholders, notably; security agencies, media organisations, leaders of political parties, civil society organisations, as well as religious and community leaders.
“The peaceful conduct of the exercise is a doubtless manifestation of public acceptability of the exercise in terms of credibility, fairness and decency”, he noted.
The chairman commended the electorate for preventing their underage children to vote.

A Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party ,NNPP, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has congratulated the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, the national leader of the NNPP, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and other party leaders across the country over the party’s victory in the Kano state local government election which took place on Saturday.
It could be recalled that the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, ,KANSIEC, has announced that, the NNPP won the 44 local governments in the councils elections conducted last on Saturday.
The Chairman of the Commission, Professor Sani Malumfashi made the declaration in Kano at the end of the collation exercise.
He said, the state electoral body has exercised and observed its constitutional mandates of planning, organizing, coordinating, observing and conducting Local Government Election in Kano State of Nigeria.
Malumfashi explained that, “Six Political Parties participated, AA, AAC, Accord, ADC, APM, and NNPP participated in the election.
He said “NNPP won all 44 Local government chairmanship and 484 councillorship positions contested. The exercise was largely peaceful and successful in all ramifications”.
In reaction to the NNPP’s landslide victory, Ajadi who was the NNPP governorship candidate in Ogun state in the 2023 general election in a release on Sunday congratulated the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and the entire party leaders and members across the country, saying the result is a sign that NNPP is battle ready for the 2027 general election.
He warned all other political parties that the NNPP is the party to beat in future election.
He thanked Governor Abba Yusuf for his peaceful and progressive ruling in Kano state, saying the success of the party in the LGs election is a score card of Abba’s governance.
According to the statement, “I congratulated my brother, the Kano state governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, the national leader of our party, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the entire NNPP’s family on the success of our great party in the last Saturday local governments election.
“The landslide victory of the NNPP in the election is symbolic. It is a pass mark for governor Abba Yusuf’s administration. It is Abba’s score card. It shows that the people of Kano appreciate Gov Abba Yusuf’s administration. Secondly, it is a sign that our party, the NNPP is battle ready for future elections especially the 2027 general election.
“Let me use the opportunity to warn the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, that its tenure will expire in 2027. Nigerians should see the performances of the NNPP in Kano and the steady progress of the party across the country as an opportunity to enjoy a progressive government by voting the party in 2027.
“NNPP is the answer to APC’s failure in the last two years. Our party if voted into power in 2027 will rescue Nigerians from the APC’s misrule”.
