Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, says full local government autonomy is now a reality across the state, saying that it is a turning point in grassroots development.
The Governor disclosed this during an empowerment programme by the Daura Local Government Area, held in Daura, yesterday.
The News Agency of Nigeria ,NAN, reports that Radda, on Nov. 24, in Faskari LGA, launched the empowerment embarked by all the 34 local government areas in the state.
According to Radda, all the 34 local government councils now receive their monthly allocations, as their funds are being released without delay.
Radda said that the local government Chairmen in the state can testify that every month, the state government is releasing their funds.
The Governor also announced the receipt of a file with the list of projects executed across Daura LGA, following the prompt release of their monthly allocations.
Radda said that part of the empowerment in Daura was the disbursement of N50,000 each to about 20 critical stakeholders, while 616 other people would receive N20,000 each.
He added that other items to be distributed were; 40 sewing machines for women, 24 motorcycles and 40 water pumping machines.
The Governor also said that the General Hospital Daura had been handed over to the Federal Government and converted to a Federal Medical Centre ,FMC.
He said that the state government had also awarded a contract for the construction of a new general hospital in Daura, hoping to be completed in 2026.
Radda inspected several ongoing projects, including roads and community facilities, and later inaugurated the construction of a ring road and the major access road leading to the Emir’s Palace.
NAN reports that the Daura event was part of a broader empowerment rollout that began on Nov. 24 in Faskari, covering all the local governments in the state.
