Kano: Police Return N4.85m Ransom To Kidnap Victim

Kano State Police Command has successfully recovered and returned N4,850,000 to its rightful owner, following a recent kidnapping incident.

It would be recalled that the victim, a resident of Zakirai Town, Gabasawa Local Government Area, was kidnapped on March 8, with the abductors demanding a ransom of N15 million.

However, a statement by the police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa noted that police operatives apprehended five suspects and successfully rescued the victim on  March 17.

The public relations officer stated that the recovered funds were formally handed over to the owner through the Chairman of Gabasawa Local Government Area,  Sagir  Abubakar, who expressed  gratitude to the police for their swift response and professionalism in handling the case.

Abubakar stated, “This exemplary action by the Kano State Police Command reassures us that security agencies are working tirelessly to combat crime and protect lives and property. We commend their dedication and effectiveness in resolving this matter.”

The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim  Bakori as reaffirming the commitment of the Kano State Police Command to ensure the safety and security of residents, emphasising that justice will be served.

He encouraged the public to continue to cooperate with law enforcement by providing valuable information that will  aid  crime prevention and investigation.
