As the world marks the International Youth Day, President of a Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, All Youths Reoriented Initiative of Nigeria, AYRION, Ambassador Olufemi Oguntoyinbo has called on the federal and state governments to make youth development, provision of jobs and enabling environment a priority to prevent future protests. He also called on youths to shun social vices such as drug addiction, internet fraud, clandestine activities and other quick money solutions. He said youths should realise that there is joy and peace in hardwork, which he said will result in long lasting richness without any inhibition.
Oguntoyinbo advised government that creation of enabling environment and job opportunities for the youths would keep them busy, saying that if this had been done earlier, the recent protests would have been a total failure. He noted that if government had been able to provide job opportunities for at least 70 percent of youths, they would not be on the streets for the protest.
Oguntoyinbo, who was the gubernatorial candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, in Ogun State in the 2023 election, also
affirmed that youth development, support for women, quality leadership and peace in the country remain his priority.
“I am dedicated to youth development because they are the leaders of tomorrow. So if we want the future of the country to be bright, we need to take care of them.
“Nothing will stop me from promoting the development of youths. I am also dedicated to the promotion of peace in the country because, without peace, the nation cannot progress,” he said.
