Iran’s army announced on Friday that it had conducted drone strikes on several American military facilities and bases located in Bahrain and Jordan as a direct response to recent US attacks against the Islamic Republic.
“This morning, the fuel tanks, large equipment warehouses and silos and the barracks of the US terrorist army forces at the Isa Air Base in Bahrain were targeted by Arash kamikaze drones,” the army said in a statement carried by state TV.
An AFP journalist in Bahrain reported hearing an explosion and the activation of warning sirens in the country on Friday morning, although it remained unclear whether these incidents were connected to the claimed attacks.
The Iranian army also asserted that it carried out drone strikes in Jordan, specifically targeting “aircraft hangars, aviation maintenance hangars and a barracks” at the Al-Azraq base.
Jordan has not issued any reports confirming strikes in the country within the past few hours.
Tehran maintains that any military facility or base in the Middle East utilised by the United States for launching attacks on Iran qualifies as a legitimate target for retaliatory action.
