In-form Lawal strengthens Super Eagles bid with dazzling European displays

Former Flying Eagles striker, Salim Fago Lawal continues to enjoy rave of the moment in Europe after his brace for NK Istra sealed 2-1 victory for the club over Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian top flight league played on Sunday evening.

Lawal was unstoppable, blazing with fire as he opened his goals account in the 10th minute of the encounter to the cheering of NK Istra fans at the stadium. It was the needed goal that announced a strong intent of Istra to win the game against their more illustrious opponent.

The former Mavlon FC of Lagos was not done yet against the defence of Dinano Zagreb, as his effort found the back of the net again in the 32nd minute to make it two goals advantage for Istra, which remained till the end of first half.

The second half saw a more determined Dinamo Zagreb bombarding the defence of NK Istra inorder to reduce the tally and possibly claw back the two goals deficit, but it was a consolatory goal that came nine minutes to full time through Monsef Bakrar.

It was a well deserved victory and another sublime performance from Lawal, who now has five goals and two assists, totally a seven – goal contribution this season, as the 22 – year old striker continues to work hard towards his maiden Super Eagels call-up pretty soon.
