Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake, has opened up about the strained relationship with his father over his decision to pursue a music career.
In a candid interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the “Sungba” crooner revealed that he and his father were once very close, but things turned cold when he chose to defy his father’s opposition to his music aspirations.
“My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless,” Asake said.
He described absconding from home as a deliberate act of disobedience to follow his passion.
This revelation comes after a public fallout in March 2025 when Asake’s father, Fatai Odunsi, accused the singer of neglect and abandonment, sparking widespread backlash.
Following the controversy, Asake reconciled with his father and took full responsibility for his welfare.
