The wife and twin children of the younger brother of former Minister of Power and 2027 Oyo State governorship aspirant, Adebayo Adelabu, have reportedly been abducted by gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims were allegedly kidnapped on Monday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan while travelling within the city.
Confirming the incident, one of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, said the victims were identified as Laide, the wife of Adelabu’s younger brother, and her twin children, Peter and Paul.
According to Awogboro, the family was travelling from the Elewura area towards the expressway when they were intercepted and taken away by unidentified gunmen.
“Adelabu’s junior brother’s wife (Laide), together with her twins (Peter and Paul), was kidnapped this morning by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge, Ibadan,” he said.
He added that the victims were attacked shortly after leaving their residence and were whisked away by the abductors.
Reacting to enquiries on the incident, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the police had not yet independently verified the report at the time of his response.
The reported abduction comes amid growing concerns over kidnapping and insecurity in parts of Oyo State, including the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in the state.
