Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has reiterated its commitment to improve the socio-economic wellbeing of Nigerians.
Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye made the disclosure at the weekend in Abuja during a stakeholders engagement with journalists.
In his opening remarks, Soneye highlighted the vital role of the oil sector in Nigeria’s economic and social development, noting that NNPCL remains dedicated not only to fuelling vehicles, but also driving national projects and progress in the country.
Soneye highlighted the efforts of NNPC Foundation which he said had conducted 1,000 free cataract surgeries in the South West geopolitical zone, as well as restored sight to many individuals affected by the ailment.
“This strategic investment is aimed at enhancing access to specialised healthcare, ensuring that Nigerians receive world-class medical treatment. AMCE is scheduled to commence operations in June.
“We are set to perform another 1,000 surgeries in the north and additional 1,000 in the South East and South South before the end of the second quarter of 2025,” he stated.
