Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State yesterday congratulated the Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging them to uphold the values and virtues imbibed during the holy month of Ramadan.
Soludo, in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr Christian Abirime, in Awka, congratulated the Muslim faithful on successfully completing the month-long Ramadan fast, highlighting the spiritual growth and self-discipline it fostered among participants.
The governor described Ramadan as a period marked by deep reflection, sacrifice and devotion to God, emphasising that the lessons should guide personal conduct and communal harmony beyond the fasting period.
He commended the Muslim community for their resilience, spiritual discipline and endurance throughout the 30-day fasting period, saying such virtues strengthen character and contributed to a morally upright society.
According to him, values such as patience, charity and self-denial practised during Ramadan are critical for societal cohesion, peaceful coexistence and promoting empathy and goodwill among members of the community.
“I urge Muslims to sustain the spirit of devotion and good deeds beyond Ramadan, while remaining steadfast in prayers for peace, unity and progress in Anambra and across Nigeria,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusiveness, pledging to continue promoting religious harmony, tolerance and mutual respect among all residents for collective development.
Soludo wished the Muslim faithful a joyous and blessed Eid-el-Fitr celebration, praying that the spirit of Ramadan would continue to inspire positive action, community service and national unity throughout the year.
