Special Adviser to the Delta State governor on Community Development, Dr Toyin Agbolayah has urged the management of  Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company, WRPC, and host communities to ensure sustained synergy  for the betterment of the state.

Agbolayah made the call on Wednesday when he led government functionaries on community development on a courtesy visit to the management of WRPC.

According to Agbolayah, the restoration of  Warri refinery is necessary and of great importance to boost community development, particularly for the host communities.

He noted that the streaming of  Warri Refinery was a significant breakthrough to the nation’s petroleum industry, which he said would “arrest youth restiveness and unemployment.”

While thanking the managing director and his team for doing a great job in the refinery, Agbolayah extended appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, for the successful restart of the 125,000 barrels per day (bpd) Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company.

He assured the management of his office’s readiness for any form of collaboration aimed at advancing the course of development in the state.

Responding, the Managing Director of WRPC, Engr Efifia Chu thanked the special adviser and his team for the visit and for having the interest of the company at heart.

He rated Governor Oborevwori’s administration high in service delivery, saying  “he is a peaceful man and if the leader is a peaceful person, it translates in all spheres of governance; what is happening in Delta is remarkable.”

Engr Chu, however, noted that  synergy between the company and host communities remains key to peace and development,  assuring that they would continue to collaborate with the host communities to achieve sustainable peace, growth and development.
