An Abuja High Court sitting in Apo has ordered the permanent forfeiture of assets worth billions of naira linked to businesswoman, Ms Aisha Achimugu, to the Federal Government.
The ruling was delivered on Thursday, July 16, 2026, by Justice Jude Onwugbuzie following an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which sought the final forfeiture of the assets.
The court granted the anti-graft agency’s request after considering the application for the properties to be permanently surrendered to the Federal Government.
Among the assets ordered forfeited are jewellery valued at N4.645 billion, 11 luxury vehicles estimated to be worth N4.293 billion, $50,000 in cash and N30 million in cash.
The forfeiture covers a range of high-value personal effects and financial assets linked to Achimugu, whose properties had earlier been subjected to interim legal proceedings pending the determination of the EFCC’s application.
Justice Onwugbuzie held that the assets should be permanently transferred to the Federal Government, bringing the forfeiture proceedings to a conclusion.
The decision followed the EFCC’s efforts to secure a final order after previously obtaining interim legal measures over the assets during the course of its investigation.
According to details contained in the court’s ruling, the forfeited properties include expensive jewellery, exotic automobiles and cash holdings collectively valued at several billions of naira.
The EFCC had approached the court, seeking an order to permanently confiscate the assets, arguing that they were liable to forfeiture under existing laws.
With the judgment, ownership of the affected assets now formally vests in the Federal Government in accordance with the court’s directive.
The ruling represents another significant development in the EFCC’s ongoing campaign against financial crimes and the recovery of assets through judicial processes.
