Community policing, key to tackling insecurity – Aturu Gbemisola

A Deputy Director,   in the National Assembly, Dr Aturu Gbemisola has said that community policing is key to surmounting insecurity in the country.

Gbemisola said this while receiving an award of Matron from the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) for her role in making the society safe and peaceful in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Deputy Director, who described security as everyone’s business, called for a synergy of all Nigerians to tackle insecurity.

“We should embrace community policing by being our brother’s keeper at all times.

“When we act like watchdogs, all these criminal activities will be eradicated,” she said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Police Community Relations  Committee (PCRC), Comrade, Godwin Ehochi said that the award was in recognition of the awardee’s immense contributions to safer Nigeria.

Ehochi who lauded President Tinubu’s efforts in containing insecurity, said the award designed to recognize patriotic Nigerians.

He expressed the willingness of the PCRC to continue to compliment the efforts of President Tinubu in tackling insecurity in the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) is an organisation dedicated to community policing in Nigeria. 

It was established in 1984 to foster a stronger relationship between the Nigerian Police Force and the community to improve safety and security through collaborative efforts and open communication.
