Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and Liverpool boss Arne Slot have been nominated for the Best Men’s Coach of the Year at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards, according to The Guardian.
On the women’s side, Chelsea Women’s head coach Sonia Bompastor, Arsenal Women’s manager Renee Slegers, and England head coach Sarina Wiegman have been shortlisted for the Best Women’s Coach of the Year award.
Bompastor, who took over from long-serving manager Emma Hayes, led Chelsea Women to a stunning domestic treble in her debut season.
Slegers assumed control of Arsenal Women midway through the campaign following Jonas Eidevall’s resignation. The Dutch tactician delivered immediate results, guiding the Gunners to their second-ever UEFA Women’s Champions League title.
Wiegman remains a strong contender for the award after steering the Lionesses to back-to-back UEFA European Championship victories this past summer.
Also nominated for the women’s category are Brazil’s Artur Elias and Nigeria’s Justine Pwanidi Madugu, both recognized for their remarkable achievements on the international stage.
In the men’s category, Maresca and Slot face fierce competition from PSG’s Luis Enrique, Barcelona’s Hansi Flick, and Napoli’s Antonio Conte. Maresca’s nomination follows a successful season in which he led Chelsea to UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup triumphs, as well as securing a place in the UEFA Champions League.
