Chelsea Eye Garnacho as Manchester United Drop Valuation

Chelsea are keeping a close watch on Alejandro Garnacho’s situation at Manchester United, sources have told ESPN, though a move would likely hinge on player departures from Stamford Bridge.

United have reportedly reduced their asking price for the 20-year-old winger from £70 million ($81m) to £40 million ($46m), prompting renewed interest from several clubs.

However, sources say Chelsea would first need to offload either Christopher Nkunku or Nicolas Jackson before making a concrete move for Garnacho.

The Argentina international is expected to be left out of United’s preseason tour of the United States, along with Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho, as new manager Ruben Amorim has excluded them from his plans for the upcoming season.

Aston Villa and several Saudi Pro League clubs are also monitoring Garnacho, with Villa manager Unai Emery reportedly viewing him as a strong tactical fit. Despite this, a source told ESPN that Garnacho prefers to join a club competing in the UEFA Champions League and is prioritising a stay in the Premier League.

Garnacho is currently in England awaiting clarity on his future, and Chelsea — who made an initial approach for him in January — have continued to track his status.
