Lead counsel to the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), has applied to withdraw from representing him in court, citing that the defendant had taken the case back from his legal team.
All the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) on the defence team have also withdrawn from the case—a development Kanu himself confirmed in court.
Kanu told the judge that he would be representing himself for now, though that might change later. When asked whether the court should assign him a new lawyer, he declined the offer.
Arguing orally, Kanu maintained that the court lacked the jurisdiction to try him.
