Chief Military Information Officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Olaniyi Osoba has confirmed that a notorious Boko Haram member, Bochu Abacha, has surrendered to troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, deployed in Kukaws Local Government Area of Borno State.
He said Abacha admitted to be a notorious Boko Haram terrorist who had participated in several operations along Mongunu-Baga axis.
Lieutenant-Colonel Osoba said the repented terrorist who escaped from a Boko Haram camp in Mussaram with his heavy weapon, confessed to have surrendered due to the intense operation of the MNJTF and lack of interest.
He added that another terrorist, Bochu Abacha also surrendered with one AK 47 rifle and a magazine loaded with 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, one mobile phone, an AIRTEL sim card and the sum of N32,500.
According to Osoba, the repentant terrorist is presently providing valuable intelligence to the authority.
In another development, troops deployed to Gubio in collaboration with intelligence operatives ambushed suspected Boko Haram terrorists conveying large logistics supply in three Toyota vehicles under the cover of darkness.
The military spokesman said items recovered from the terrorists include three Toyota vehicles loaded with assorted foodstuffs, other sundry items and N2,000.
He added that troops accosted the vehicle following an intelligence report on the terrorists crossing point, killing one terrorist, while others fled into the nearby forest due to the superior fire power of the troops, abandoning a large logistics supply.
