From Henry Ibya, Makurdi
Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company, BIPC, Dr Raymond Asemakaha has assured that the company would continue to identify, secure and recover all government-owned properties illegally occupied for the purpose of proper management.
Asemakaha, who gave the assurance during an interaction with journalists at the weekend in Makurdi, after he led the recovery of the popular Yaman Park, said his action was in line with Edit No.10 of 1995 which transferred all assets of the defunct Benue Housing Agency to BIPC.
He explained that the transfer vested BIPC with the full responsibility to protect and recover, as well as manage the state government’s landed property from encroachment and trespass.
He noted that the recovery of Yaman Park from illegal occupants is a demonstration of the state government’s resolve to restore order in land administration and protect public assets from illegal takeover, warning individuals and groups occupying government lands without authorisation to vacate such properties.
The managing director expressed optimism that the recovery would pave the way for its development and utilisation, in line with the vision of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s investment and urban renewal strategic plan.
