Franklin Ohiaeri Tochukwu stated that, the three-day conference, which took place from May 20 to May 22, 2026, brought together regulators, investors, technology innovators, financial institutions, policymakers, and startup founders from across Africa to explore the future of financial innovation, regulatory technology, and digital transformation on the continent.

One of the major highlights of the conference was the Startup World Cup Pitch Day held on May 21, where selected startups presented innovative solutions aimed at addressing Africa’s financial and regulatory challenges.

The Abuja Regional Challenge was organised through a partnership between RegTech Africa and the Startup World Cup, one of the world’s largest startup pitch competitions.

Following the victory, Mehtic Technology will now represent the region at the global finals in Silicon Valley, United States, where startups from across the world will compete for a $1 million investment prize and strategic international partnerships.

From hundreds of applications received across Africa, only 15 outstanding startups were selected to pitch live before a distinguished panel of judges, investors, and ecosystem leaders.

The finalists represented sectors including fintech, regulatory technology (RegTech), artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and GovTech, with startups evaluated based on innovation, market scalability, revenue potential, business sustainability, quality of presentation, and societal impact.

Mehtic Technology stood out with its BankPlus Core Banking Infrastructure, a next-generation digital banking platform designed to help financial institutions deliver secure, scalable, and efficient banking operations.

The solution attracted strong attention from judges and participants for its ability to simplify complex banking processes, improve operational efficiency, strengthen digital financial services, and deepen financial inclusion across emerging markets.

Speaking on the achievement, the Chief Executive Officer of Mehtic Technology, Ahmed Sani, described the victory as a major milestone not only for the company but also for Africa’s growing technology ecosystem.

According to him, the recognition reflects the increasing global relevance of African-built financial technology solutions and demonstrates the continent’s ability to develop world-class digital infrastructure capable of transforming banking and financial services.

He noted that Mehtic Technology’s journey has been driven by resilience, innovation, and a strong commitment to solving critical financial infrastructure challenges facing emerging markets.

Sani further explained that despite challenges often faced by deep-tech startups, including limited access to funding, regulatory complexities, and market entry barriers, the company remained focused on building secure, scalable, and inclusive banking infrastructure solutions.

He added that Mehtic Technology’s mission is to empower financial institutions with advanced core banking technology that enhances operational efficiency, strengthens security, and promotes financial inclusion, while its long-term vision is to become a leading financial technology infrastructure provider in Africa and beyond.

Sani also expressed appreciation to the organisers, judges, partners, and supporters of the competition for creating a platform that connects African startups with global investment opportunities and international innovation ecosystems.

Following the victory, Mehtic Technology said it would intensify efforts toward expanding the BankPlus ecosystem, deepening partnerships with financial institutions, and preparing for the Startup World Cup Global Finals in Silicon Valley.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to building innovative technology infrastructure that will support the continued evolution of digital banking across Africa and other emerging markets.

The RegTech Africa Conference and Expo remains one of Africa’s leading platforms promoting conversations around regulatory innovation, financial technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.
