Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori yesterday met with operation commanders to review security strategies and plan for a more peaceful state.
The meeting came amid rising banditry in Kano border towns, especially Shanono and Tsayawa.
Speaking at the Police Headquarters, CP Bakori said the meeting was to appreciate the officers for their commitment and selfless service to the command and the people of Kano State, and to evaluate recent successes and areas for improvement.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said: “In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, during the meeting, CP Bakori emphasized the importance of community-based engagements and directed operation commanders to intensify sensitization campaigns aimed at educating locals on their roles in maintaining peace and security in the state.
He extensively discussed security arrangements at Kano borders (especially border villages along Shanono, Tsanyawa and Rogo LGAs), reinforcing ongoing operations in manpower and equipment, and stressed the need for sustained vigilance.

The meeting included Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners, Tactical Commanders, and other senior officers of the Command.
