New Coordinator/CEO of The National Coordinator of African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa’s Development AUDA-NEPAD Hon. Jabiru Salishu Abudulahi has pledged to run an open door policy that will further transform Nigeria through good governance, citizens empowerment, interpretation that will foster sustainable development in line with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of the present administration.
He made this known at media parley, yesterday in Abuja, where he met with selected journalists, highlighted his vision plans to put agency on pedestrian of success as he seeks the continued media support for the agency’s progress.
Hon. Abdullahi expressed that Agency’s action will align with the Renewed Hope Agenda, championed by Mr. President that emphasized on good governance, empowerment, and inclusivity to creating lasting impact in the country and beyond.
According to him, this occasion marks the beginning of a journey of collaboration, transparency, and shared purpose between our Agency and you—the dedicated members of the press, whose work informs, educates, and inspires millions.
“This gathering is not just an introduction. It is a call to action. We stand at a critical juncture in our nation’s history, one where the collective efforts of governance, civil society, and the media will determine the trajectory of our future”.
Speaking on the task ahead, CEO said: “As we all known AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria is a key player in implementing the African Union’s vision of an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful Africa.
“We are tasked with executing priority programs that align with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 while addressing Nigeria’s unique challenges and opportunities.
“Our transformation from NEPAD to AUDA-NEPAD signified not just a change in name but a deepened commitment to operational efficiency and measurable impact. We are focused on fostering:
“Good Governance and Transparency: Strengthening democracy and promoting accountability through the African Peer Review Mechanism ,APRM.
“Capacity Building: Leveraging the NEPAD Academy to empower professionals and leaders with the skills to drive sustainable development.
“Empowerment of Farmers, Youth, and Women: Targeted programs to uplift smallholder farmers, advance gender equality, and harness Africa’s demographic dividend as well as Regional Integration: Promoting projects that unite Nigeria with the broader African community.
While giving the hint on Achievements so far, Abudullahi revealed that AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria has made significant strides over the years which include: Leading Nigeria’s second peer review process, a testament to our commitment to good governance and transparency.
“Empowering over 55 professionals through the NEPAD Academy with skills in governance, technology, and leadership.
Driving smallholder farmer programs that provide tools, resources, and knowledge to enhance productivity and secure food systems across Nigeria.
“Organizing nationwide sensitization workshops and training on violence-free elections and governance, aligning with the principles of democracy and political stability.
“Despite these successes, we acknowledge that challenges remain yet, we are undeterred. With strong partnerships, innovation, and commitment, we are turning these challenges into opportunities among others”
He however sought media support to achieve all the plan and action through positive reportage of the agency. “The press are more than an observer. You are active partner in progress. Your role in shaping narratives, holding institutions accountable, and connecting citizens with governance cannot be overstated”.
