The Coalition of Eket Federal Constituency Youths has strongly dismissed as “false, misleading and heavily sponsored propaganda” reports published by some local tabloids claiming that Mrs Eunice Thomas emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries held on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
In a reaction to publications by some media houses, the youths described the reports as a deliberate attempt to distort the truth, confuse party faithful and mislead the general public over the authentic outcome of the APC primaries in Eket Federal Constituency.
According to the group, the election was peacefully conducted under the supervision of security agencies and returning officers who came from Abuja to monitor and officially declare the result of the exercise.
The Coalition maintained that Obongawaan (Dr) Mrs Judith Ogbara Mayen Etuk overwhelmingly defeated other aspirants in what they described as a clear and unquestionable landslide victory.
The youths further noted that immediately after the declaration of results on Saturday night, supporters of Dr Judith openly celebrated the victory across the constituency without any form of resistance or objection from opposing camps because, according to them, “everybody knew the true outcome of the primaries”.
“It is shocking and unfortunate that days after a transparent exercise, some newspapers suddenly chose to publish a completely different narrative on their front pages,” the statement said.
“We view such publications as a coordinated propaganda campaign sponsored to manipulate public perception and undermine the credibility of the electoral process within the party”.
The Coalition stressed that its members monitored the primaries throughout the entire Eket Federal Constituency and could confidently testify that Dr Judith won convincingly across the areas where the exercise was conducted.
They therefore called on the people of Eket, Onna, Esit Eket and Ibeno Local Government Areas, as well as supporters of Dr Judith and all peace-loving residents of the constituency, to disregard the publications in circulation, insisting that they do not reflect the reality of what transpired during the primaries.
“Our position is based on facts, direct observation and the official declaration made by the returning officers from Abuja. No amount of media propaganda can overturn the truth already witnessed by party members and the public”, the group declared.
The Coalition also expressed confidence that the national secretariat of the APC would officially publish the results of all party primaries nationwide ahead of the issuance of certificates of return to duly elected flag bearers.
Until then, the youths said they remained resolute and unwavering in standing by the official declaration that pronounced Obongawaan (Dr) Mrs Judith Ogbara Mayen Etuk winner of the APC House of Representatives primaries for Eket Federal Constituency.
They warned against attempts to overheat the polity through misinformation, urging political actors and their supporters to allow truth, peace and due process to prevail
