Newly elected President of the Nigeria Para-Powerlifting Federation, Kingsley James Awodi, has assured Nigerians that his administration will deliver excellence and take the sport to greater heights through talent discovery, improved athlete welfare, and strategic development initiatives.

Speaking after his election on Wednesday in Abuja  Awodi said Nigerians should expect outstanding performances from the federation, stressing that the new board is committed to sustaining the country’s dominance in para-powerlifting on the global stage.

According to him, one of the major priorities of his administration will be organising regular open trials to discover and nurture new talents across the country.

“We will organise open trials and ensure we recruit athletes, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents. Through this process, we will discover many more athletes who can represent Nigeria at the highest level,” he said.

Awodi also pledged to intensify efforts toward attracting sponsors and partners to provide modern equipment and training facilities that will help athletes prepare adequately for international competitions.

“Nigerians should expect the best from us. We will continue to pursue sponsorship opportunities to secure equipment and facilities that will enhance training and performance,” he added.

The federation president noted that his team is not under pressure, emphasizing that passion for service remains their driving force.

“We are not under pressure because we enjoy what we are doing. When you love what you do, pressure becomes easier to manage,” he stated.

Awodi also commended the leadership of the National Sports Commission, particularly Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director General Bukola Olopade, for their efforts in developing sports in Nigeria.
