The police also revealed that preliminary investigations had been concluded for another group of suspects, leading to the prosecution of 33 individuals on charges of criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly in relation to the incident.

Meanwhile, the command announced the unconditional release of 30 persons earlier detained during the investigation after authorities established that they had no involvement in the crime.

The police explained that investigations remain active, stressing that security operatives are working to identify everyone who directly participated in the attack or assisted those responsible.

“The Command reiterates that investigations remain ongoing. We are intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend all individuals who participated in, or aided, the commission of this heinous crime. Every person found culpable will be brought to justice,” the statement read.

The Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, reaffirmed the command’s determination to secure justice for the deceased while maintaining peace and public order across Kaduna State.

He appealed to residents to remain calm, obey the law, and continue supporting investigators with credible information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.

The tragic killing of Malama Ummulkhairi, an Islamic teacher, occurred in Maraban Jos after she was accused by a mob of allegedly stealing children.

The incident generated widespread outrage across the country, with security agencies, civil society groups and community leaders condemning the act as a disturbing example of jungle justice and calling for those responsible to face the full weight of the law.

The police maintained that investigations would continue until every person linked to the killing is identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
