Abuja Set for 2026 Hockey Super League as Men, Women Battle for Glory

Abuja is set to become the hub of hockey in Nigeria as the 2026 Hockey Super League for Men and Women takes center stage from June 25 to July 5 at the Hockey Pitch of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The highly anticipated championship will bring together top male and female hockey teams from across the country in what promises to be an exciting battle for supremacy. 

The tournament is expected to showcase elite talent, fierce competition, and the growing strength of hockey in Nigeria.

The competition will officially begin with the opening match on June 25, setting the tone for ten days of thrilling action. 

Following the opening ceremony and initial fixtures, the group stage matches will hold from June 29 to July 2, where teams will battle for places in the knockout rounds.

Attention will then shift to the decisive phase of the tournament, with the semi-finals scheduled for July 3, before the competition climaxes with the grand finale on July 5, where champions in both the men’s and women’s categories will emerge.

Adding further value to the event, the FIS Coaching Level 1 and 2 Course alongside an Umpiring Seminar will also be held from June 29 to July 4.

 The technical programmes are designed to strengthen coaching capacity and improve officiating standards within the sport.

With competition and development running side by side, the 2026 Hockey Super League is expected to serve as a major boost for hockey development in Nigeria. 

As excitement builds, all roads now lead to Abuja for what promises to be a memorable festival of hockey.
