Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Barrister Ugana Lukpata has joined other prominent Nigerians and party leaders in extending warm Democracy Day felicitations to Nigerians and Cross Riverians, celebrating 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in the country, which calls for commitment to upholding democratic ideals
Rt. Hon. Lukpata desclose this in a press statement made available to journalist at the weekend, to commemorate Democracy Day.

He noted that the sacrifices of pro-democracy activists laid the foundation for the democratic freedoms Nigerians enjoy today, urging Nigerians to remain united in preserving democracy.
He said June 12 remained a powerful symbol of sacrifice, patriotism and the sovereignty of the Nigerian people. He described the milestone as a remarkable achievement in Nigeria’s democratic journey and a testament to the resilience, unity, and collective determination of the Nigerian people.
The APC deputy state chairman called on Nigerians, particularly party members and stakeholders, to uphold the values of peace, unity and mutual respect.
He said unity remained critical to preserving democratic gains and ensuring national progress.
“As we commemorate this year’s Democracy Day, the party calls on all members, leaders, stakeholders and supporters to continue to uphold the values of peace, unity, discipline, loyalty and mutual respect.
We must not allow personal interests or temporary disagreements to undermine the unity that has remained our greatest strength. Let us remain united in purpose and focused on the greater objective of advancing the progress and prosperity of Lagos State and Nigeria.”Nigeria Current Affairs
Hon. Lukpata reaffirmed the party’s commitment to deepening democracy, promoting good governance and supporting policies aimed at national development.
He urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of June 12 heroes in building a stronger, more prosperous and united country.
According to the APC Deputy State Chairman, sustainable development across the world is largely driven by democratic principles, the rule of law, accountability, and active citizen participation. He emphasized that Nigeria’s ability to sustain democratic governance for 27 years reflects the country’s commitment to national unity, peace, and progress.
Rt. Hon. Lukpata further expressed optimism that with continued dedication to democratic values, Nigeria will attain greater heights and take its rightful place among leading nations of the world.
“He urged Nigerians to remain committed to strengthening democratic institutions and promoting national cohesion for the benefit of present and future generations,” he stated.
