The recent petition against Senator Olajide Ipinsagba has been dismissed as politically motivated and lacking grassroots credibility, with claims that its authors have no history of engagement with communities in Ondo North.
A media aide to the lawmaker, Prince Adeyinka Ajagunna, said the petitioners were opportunistic actors seeking relevance, stressing that their criticisms were disconnected from the realities of constituents who have witnessed tangible development across the district.
He further alleged that members of the group were previously involved in anti-party activities during the 2023 elections, noting that their current actions were aimed at influencing political decisions rather than addressing genuine concerns about governance.
“The recent petition against Senator Olajide Ipinsagba is the handwork of the latter. It is authored by a group who has no history of consistent engagement with Ondo North’s people, who has never walked the communities, measured the schools, inspected the health centres, or listened to the farmers in their fields.
“These individuals are not strangers by accident, they are political remnants of failure. Many were actively involved in anti-party coordination during the 2023 elections, aligning themselves with agendas that sought to weaken APC’s unity and prospects in Ondo North,” he said.
Ajagunna maintained that the senator’s performance in office was evident across key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure, citing projects and interventions that have directly impacted constituents in all six local government areas of Ondo North.
“Contrast this with the work of Senator Olajide Ipinsagba, whose approach is neither performative nor symbolic. In education, over 1,000 scholarships and bursaries have been awarded; free JAMB forms have empowered thousands of students annually; classrooms have been constructed and renovated across all six local governments; laboratories equipped; hostel materials distributed to technical schools; and the ICT University Bill in Ikare-Akoko sponsored and passed, positioning Ondo North as a hub for digital and innovation advancement. This is governance felt in classrooms, libraries, and laboratories, not printed in petitions.
“Healthcare interventions under Senator Ipinsagba have directly impacted lives, including the construction and full equipping of a modern health centre in Akunnu, medical outreaches that provided free surgeries and eyeglasses, and the supply of equipment to State Specialist Hospital, Ikare, and FMC Annex, Supare. Relief interventions following disasters have reached hundreds of families, reinforcing the principle that constituents are served, not ignored.”
he also highlighted gains in Agricultural developmment, legislature and infrastrure.
He warned that allowing such groups to influence party decisions could undermine unity and reverse gains already recorded in the district, urging stakeholders to prioritise performance over political narratives.
The aide reiterated that the senator’s leadership remains widely acknowledged by constituents, adding that ongoing engagement with communities and development initiatives continue to define governance in Ondo North.
