Benue State Governor, Reverend Father, Hyacinth Alia has lauded the maturity exhibited by people of the state by not joining the nationwide on going protest across some states of the federation, describing Benue as symbol of democracy.
Alia who gave the commendation while addressing the people in Makurdi, expressed delight over the development which the people heeded to his call, noting that lovers of democracy across the country are happy with Benue people.
He emphasized that his administration would always remain grateful to the federal government and would always be willing to reciprocate the gesture of Mr president by supporting his policies, urging the people to continue to remain calm for peace to return to the troubled places.
Governor Alia assured the people that his administration would always give priority to agricultural policies and programnes for the benefit of the people who are predominantly farmers, stressing that government intend to invest in mechanized agriculture to make it attractive especially to youths to enable them tap abundant opportunities in the sector for improved living standards.
He expressed appreciation to Benue people, especially the organized labour unions, market women, students unions, groups and associations for their show of understanding during the trying moment as well as ensuring that Benue remains calm and urged the people to sustain the spirit for the interest of the state.
The governor encouraged those who are not satisfied with his policies to feel free to engage government constructively, adding that the doors of his government are always open for those with useful suggestions that would bring about development.
