NDLEA Arraigns 2 Over Drug Trafficking In Oyo

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Oyo State Command, yesterday, arraigned two suspected drug traffickers, Adeola Adeniyi and Wasiu Kareem before a Federal High Court in Ibadan over alleged drug offences.

Adeniyi, 52, and Kareem, 54, pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge bordering on possession and unlawful dealing in narcotics.

Consequently, the presiding judge, Justice Nkeonye Maha ordered the defendants to be remanded at Agodi Correctional Centre and  adjourned the case until March 20 for trial.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr D.O Otunla told the court that the defendants committed the offences on October 29, 2025 along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Otunla said NDLEA operatives arrested Adeniyi and Kareem while they were in possession of 59kg of codeine syrup, eight kilograms of benzodiazepine and 4.8kg of tramadol, all classified as psychotropic substances.

According to him, the offences contravene Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
